Grupo Pesquera presents "Dehesa la Granja", along with their other wines: Pesquera, Condado de Haza and El Vínculo.
The Dehesa La Granja Winery (“where time takes on a flavour and memory becomes an aroma...”) is located in the province of Zamora in an area that was once known as “Tierra del Vino”, the Land of Wine in Spanish. It is Alejandro Fernández’s third winery and has almost 800 hectares of varied lands on the banks of the River Guareña.
It was formerly dedicated to producing wine and then to breeding fighting bulls, until Alejandro Fernández refurbished it and dedicated it once again to its original purpose. The buildings include a small trial bullring to test young bulls’ fighting spirit.
Dehesa la Granja is no longer a dream and has become one of the most beautiful properties in the winemaking world. It is a winery that respects the environment and is integrated into it.
The barrels containing wine are stored under the vaults of the old underground cellars. Respecting the peculiarities of the place where the grapes have grown, they also have the personal and unmistakeable touch of the Fernández Rivera family.
One hundred and twenty-five men worked in the dark silence, only broken by the smashing sound of their hammers, for 17 years between 1750 and 1767 and hewed away space from the rock until they managed to create a beautiful labyrinth of passages exceeding 3,000 square metres.
