A wine that reflects history, the vineyard of Dehesa de los Canónigos and the respect for wine in the cellar during its production.
Presently Dehesa de los Canónigos is an estate made up by six hundred hectares, out of which seventy are covered by vineyard. Among its vineyards Tinto Fino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Albillo varieties can be found.
It is worth mentioning that the winery, along with its parent company, was the first one to plant vines when the Duero’s area was being repopulated.
This took place when the Abbot of Santa María de Valbuena was heading the abbey for third time, with vines from Burgundy. Upon the Dissentailment of the Church property, it landed in private hands but the fruit quality was maintained.
The estate also embraces one hundred ninety eight hectares of pine grove, five thousand olive trees of Arbequina variety as well as beet and cereal crops. Furthermore, a new and modern irrigation system, which is integrated in the Irrigation Community of the Canal de Riaza, chaired by Luis Sanz for 30 years, can be found.

Tasting Notes | Bright cherry colour with very intense ruby red rim. High-toned fruit aroma comes first on the nose but gradually it merges into highlighting hints of toasty, liquorice and chocolate, which lead to a great expression of aromas. Round mouth, with a concentration of varietal intensity on the palate, well-merged oak and fruit tannins, luscious, structured and balanced. Lingering finish. |
