More information Condado de Haza Crianza 2016 37.5 CL Wine
Condado de Haza is a powerful, elegant, mellow wine with just the right application of oak.
Alejandro Fernández discovered an abandoned hillside on the banks of the River Duero in the mid-1980s that seemed to bring together the ideal conditions to become one of the best vineyards of the region. It had a gentle southern-facing slope that ended in the river and different soils composed of gravel, clay and gypsum that promised to produce the nuances needed to create complex wines from Tempranillo grapes.
Thus began an arduous three-year period of negotiations destined to purchase the small individual allotments that made up the hillside. The first 80 hectares were finally planted in 1989.
Today the property, which is named after the nearby town of Haza, has a continuous covering of almost 200 hectares of excellent Tempranillo vines.
Although small amounts of wine were produced in 1993, the 1994 vintage was the first that underwent full-scale commercialisation. Both vintages were mainly produced in the Pesquera facilities.
It was only from 1995 that Condado de Haza became the “Château” Alejandro Fernández had dreamed of. It became a complete and self-sufficient winery encompassing the whole winemaking process from the vine to the bottle.
Condado de Haza Crianza
The winery’s own vineyards located within the municipal boundaries of Roa and La Horra, at an altitude of more than 811 metres.
HARVEST:
A year that was warmer than usual. The first frosts did not arrive until November and December. Using these months as a reference, it can be said that winter temperatures were warmer. The beginning of spring came with cooler temperatures than normal. Nevertheless, bud break took place as normal. The average temperature since June was quite high, reaching normal ranges in August. The harvest took place in September.
CONSUMPTION:
Ready for drinking, it will continue to develop in the bottle. Decant 30 minutes before serving to oxygenate. It may contain sediments as it has not undergone any filtration process to get a more natural wine, but this does not affect the quality of the wine.
