Codorniu Benjamin is made with the three traditional Mediterranean varieties of the D.O. Cava.
Codorníu is the oldest family business in Spain and the 17th in the world. Today, the Codorníu Raventós group owns more than 3,000 hectares of vineyards, making it the largest vineyard owner in Europe. ELABORATION (WINEMAKING)
This dry cava is made from the three traditional Mediterranean varieties of the D.O. Cava: Macabeo (acidic and strong wines), Xarel-lo (provides structure) and Parellada (provides subtlety). The three varieties are worked in different ways: different fermentation temperatures, different rackings and different times in contact with the lees. Once the fermentation of the three varieties has been completed, we make an assemblage with the resulting wines and store them in the cellars, where they remain in contact with the lees for a minimum of 9 months.
VINEYARD (VITICULTURE)
The grapes used in the production of Codorníu Benjamín basically come from the Mediterranean climate area of the Cava DO, where the native varieties show all their typicality. They are grown in vineyards selected by our viticulture teams who work together with our suppliers throughout the year to continuously improve the crops, monitor ripening, determine harvesting times and finally, advise them so that the grapes arrive at our cellars in the best conditions through rapid and careful transport to the winery.
Codorníu Benjamín is ideal as an apéritif, accompanying nuts, salty cakes, assorted canapés, etc. Perfect with desserts.
