More information Casta Diva Cosecha Miel Wine

One of the best Moscatel Sweet Wine of Spain.

"One of the most personal wine cellars of Spain, with a great character production and a peculiar philosophy that joins wine with culture..."

"the labels of its wines - perfectly made always - are dedicated to Stendhal, Bellini and Dashiel Hammlet. Wine's names -Casta Diva, etc- wants to continue the union between wine's cience and literature." - Albert Rexach (Wine guides from Spain 1997)

Felipe Gutiérrez de la Vega founded his winery in 1987, installing modern winemaking equipment inside a converted mill in the remote mountain village of Parcent.  While Cabernet and Merlot from dry-farmed estate vineyards near Jávea show promise as the base for a serious, ageworthy oak-aged red wine called Viña Ulises, Moscatel is the specialty.

VINEYARDS

Marina Alta is located on the Cabo de la Nao promontory north of Benidorm, rising from the coastal towns of Jávea and Dénia to nearly 3,000 feet above sealevel.  Southerly Mediterranean breezes leave their humidity on the southfacing slopes of the peninsular ranges, creating an insular, humid microclimate which coaxes a higher level of acidity and flavor from the produce of the region:  exquisitely intense oranges and highly aromatic Muscat of Alexandria (here called Moscatel Romano despite the fact that it predates Roman settlement in the area).  The Moscatel, grown in Marina Alta¹s ancient terraces of Greco-Roman origin, mirrors the orange's blossom in its bouquet.

Tasting Notes

Attractive golden yellow colour.
In the nose it develops from the honeyed perfume of orange blossom honey, the rose water and the bitter orange, behind them there is an exotic and Moorish Toasted almonds, pastries, and sweet spices with vanilla as the main protagonist. In the mouth it is fruity, we find the sweetness of honey and the freshness of bitter oranges, the step is light, subtle and delicate.
