More information Bruichladdich Reserve 16 Ans (Islay) Whisky
Bruichladdich distillery was built in 1881 by the Harvey Brothers.
The Harveys were a dynastic whisky family with over a century of distillery ownership, including Glasgow's Yoker and Dundas Hill Distilleries. The Three brothers decided to combine their expertise to build a third harvey distillery: Robert designed it, John had the distilling experience, and william had the money
Bruichladdich was to be the very antithesis of an Islay farm distillery. This was to be a cathedral-like still house that (unlike their cow shed equivalents elsewhere) enveloped 6 m tall stills designed to produce the purest spirit possible. Using concrete, a newly-patented building material, this was a modern, purpose-built distillery, ergonomically laid out around a central courtyard for efficiency, and on a gentle slope to exploit gravity – a state-of-the-art Victorian distillery with an annual capacity of 400,000 litres.
Bruichladdich Twenty Reserve 16 Years
The definitive American Oak Matured Bruichladdich and their flagship sixteen year old whisky.
This, their classic 16-year-old, has been matured in vanilla-rich cask coopered from American white oak; stowed away in their loch-side warehouses, slumbering, maturing, coming of age... all the time breathing the invigorating marine air of this Hebridean island.
This is classic spirit, with the "laddie" 10 and the 22, it shares a genealogy, a lineage, and philosophy that is the very essence of bruichladdich.
