Bathtub gin is produced in small batches using a traditional method called cold compounding, with botanicals such as juniper, coriander, clove, cinnamon, orange peel and cardamom being left to infuse in high quality pot-distilled grain spirit. The botanicals lend a tint to the final spirit as well as a wonderfully clean, fresh flavour.
Made with the finest botanicals including juniper berries, coriander, clove, cinnamon, orange peel and cardamom, which are left to infuse in high quality pot-distilled grain spirit.
Handmade Packaging
Each Professor Cornelius Ampleforth bottle is lovingly hand-wrapped in brown paper and string, then wax-sealed by hand. Packaging worthy of any Victorian apothecary.
Back in 2011, Professor Cornelius Ampleforth fulfilled a lifelong ambition when he released his extraordinary Bathtub Gin. Not content with this highly successful experiment, he proceeded to lock himself back inside his laboratory and set about on an entire range of original and reimagined spirits inspired by by-gone eras and modern technology alike! Whether it’s cold-compounding or distillation under vacuum, the madcap professor does whatever it takes to produce the finest libations and retain the freshness of the wonderful botanicals he uses.
The perfect choice for any number of gin-based cocktails. Equally, if you're looking for the ultimate gin for your Gin & Tonic, then you, my friend, have just found it.
Bathtub Old Tom is a slightly sweetened gin, created following a request from The Handmade Cocktail Company, which needed a tasty Old Tom gin for use in their Martinez cocktail.
Bathtub Old Tom got its name from an unusual dispensing method used by London gin houses.
A tom cat-shaped plaque would be hung outside where passers-by could drop a coin in the animal’s mouth. The proprietor would then dispense a shot of gin from a tube under the cat’s paws.
