More information Barcelo Imperial Onyx (Dominican Republic) Rum
Rum aged in American white oak barrels with a high roasting temperature.
January 10th, 1929 marked the start of a grand journey for a young Majorcan named Julián Barceló. This day he left Mallorca, his native island, to travel to the Dominican Republic in search of new challenges. Once in Santa Domingo he started the great adventure of creating his own distillery.
Barcelo & Co was founded in 1930. As with all businesses, the first few years were difficult. Julián took his old Ford van and tirelessly promoted his quality rums to all corners of the country without much success. However, as time passed his efforts were rewarded and Barceló & Co was transformed into a national industry power. When Julián Barceló passed away, his nephew Miguel Barceló managed the direction of the company, continuing with his uncle´s methods and beliefs, and the company was further transformed into a basic pillar of the Dominican economy.
