In DOMECQ BODEGAS the main concern is to keep the identifying features of each of its estates intact, taking into account each detail to preserve the idiosyncrasies of each bodega and to pick the fruit in perfect condition.
The result of twelve different ways of doing things and nine appellations or Denominaciones de Origen which have put DOMECQ BODEGAS in first place in terms of presence, winemaking technique and wine production in Spain, and most particularly, in the D.O. Rioja.
Trust is the key. To be sure of enjoying to the full its different wines with their distinct characters. To be able to continue believing in a unifying dream with a future. And to make it possible for it to reach consumers in every corner of the globe where it is possible to enjoy wines with character and the utmost peak of expression of their origins. The fruits of DOMECQ BODEGAS.
Its spectacular architecture and the efficiency of its modern winemaking process place Juan Alcorta in the vanguard of winemaking and the new wine culture.
Some of the processes, recuperated from past tradition, such as allowing the grapes to fall by the force of gravity and the excavation of the cellar underground, are signs of intelligence at the service of the final result. Wines such as Campo Viejo , Alcorta , Azpilicueta or Marqués de Villamagna , are fine examples of this.
Situated in the heart of La Rioja, in lands ideally suited to growing, making and ageing wines. Throughout the process the grapes are only moved by the force of gravity, with no use of pressure or pumping of any kind which could harm the final result.
"We are really satisfied because we have managed to produce a bright, aromatic crianza wine. The indigenous grape varieties we used, Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo, imbue the wine a lively freshness. Azpilicueta is a crianza with good body, smooth, balanced and pleasing." - Elena Adell - The Juan Alcorta Oenologist.
Crianza: Criado 16 months in new french oak cask and americand and 20 months in bottle.
