The story goes that in 1493, Christopher Columbus brought back sugar cane on his second voyage. Our ancestors cultivated it with great effort to squeeze all its flavour out of our land.
With the first crops, aguardiente began to be made and since then this art has been perfected by hidden clans, who passed on the secret recipe to the generations that succeeded them. A century later, aguardiente was consumed much more than chicha and generation after generation improved the recipe of this great legacy treasured since the conquest.
520 years later, the tradition continues and the Fábrica de Licores de Antioquia produces the best aguardiente in our country, which represents the joyful and festive spirit of Colombians and has achieved important international recognition for its unparalleled flavour and quality. |
