More information Albariño Santiago Ruiz 2023 Wine
Santiago Ruiz is a Rias Baixas wine crafted from native O Rosal grape varieties.
First came Ángel, the grandfather, then his grandson Santiago and now, his daughter Rosa. This Galician family's tradition of winemaking goes back as far as 1860 when Santiago's maternal grandfather, Ángel, founded his own winery. This passion was passed down to his grandson, Santiago Ruiz, who, after retiring, decided to dedicate himself completely to the tradition of his ancestors. Thus, in 1984, he opened his eponymous winery. Today, his legacy continues in the hands of his youngest daughter, Rosa Ruiz, who has been able to strike the difficult balance between traditions conserved through generations and the latest advances to safeguard and preserve the uniqueness and character of the wines.
A wine that is synonymous with its creator, Santiago Ruiz, considered to be the father of Albariño. A single varietal wine born from old vines, Rosa Ruiz is devised in homage to the woman who continued her father's legacy. This is how the long history of this family brings together the past and the present, and projects itself into the future.
Santiago Ruiz
Hand harvesting by varietal in 20 Kg crates, with subsequent selection on sorting tables upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation of each variety separately at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks over 21 days. After fermentation, lees ageing is carried out before making the final blend, which, as in every vintage, seeks to maintain the spirit of the original Santiago Ruiz.

Tasting Notes | Pale straw yellow with greenish highlights. On the nose it is intense, fresh and complex, combining notes of fruit (apple, pear, apricot) with touches of aromatic herbs and minerals. In the mouth it is complex, appealing from the start, with body and predominant citrus notes. The combination of the five native varietals makes it extraordinarily complex. It will evolve very well in bottle over the next few months. |
