Bodegas y Viñedos del Jaro was the first winery in the HEBE Project, created by the Osborne-Osborne family. To do so, they chose one of the best estates within the Ribera del Duero D.O., located in the famous wine producing village of Pesquera. One kilometre away, where the Duero river flows, on its right banks, and surrounded by a small wood of hundred years old holm oaks that gives its name (Jaro) to the winery.
Jaro is a small winery perfectly adapted to the estate’s philosophy, according to the wines’ quality and the estate from where they come, and where the different elaborating and ageing tasks are carried out following the most severe quality processes.
JAROS CRIANZA 2005
Grapes: 100% Tempranillo Fermentation: 7 days in 20,000 litre tanks. Maceration time: 15 days in 20,000 litre tanks. Ageing: 12 months in new barrels and by 2 years of oak barrels ( American and French ). Bottled in February 2004
Jaros is our estate wine, as it is a blend of all the wines with different characteristics in our estate, taken to their best expression. It comes from yield productions of a maximum of 4,500 kgs per hectare ( 1 – 1.5 kgs per vine ). The wine is elaborated by separating the grapes from each different sectors ( both in elaboration and ageing, that can last between 12 and 14 months ) until we decide the final coupage before bottling. A spectacular fruit, with balsamic hints ( that after 6 harvests we begin to think that are a peculiarity in our estate ), that is accompanied by a fine pebbles minerality and a suggestive cremosity after the cask ageing, are the main sensorial notes. Its production may vary between 70,000 and 130,000 bottles per vintage.”
