More information Henri Abele Titanic Collection Cava - Champagne
Established by Théodore Van der Veken in 1757, Maison Henri Abelé is the third oldest Champagne house. This prestigious firm has innovated throughout its 250-year history, which is intimately linked with that of the Champagne region.
Maison Henri Abelé was one of the early pioneers in producing and distributing Champagne, a unique wine first made in the early 18th century and soon adopted by royalty at the celebrations organized to mark the coronations of the French kings in Reims Cathedral. The company was one of the most active in marketing its wines in France and around the world, soon becoming official court supplier to royalty in Spain, Germany, and Belgium.
Henri Abelé also made a significant contribution to improving the «Champagne method», by inventing and perfecting theriddling rack. He was also the first to disgorge by freezing the neck of the bottle, a method still in use today.
Henri Abelé Titanic
2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the devastating sinking of the Titanic. In order to commemorate the anniversary, Henri Abele, one of the oldest, most prestigious names in the industry, presents the Titanic Cuvée. Henri Abele was elected by the Titanic Foundation as the official champagne of the centennial since it served at the very last supper aboard the luxurious ship on April 14, 1912.
This exquisite champagne was created specifically for the occasion by Henri Abele winemaker Frank Nicaise. The brut cuvée is prepared from an assortment of classic and prestigious Chardonnay and Pinot Noir along with a small amount of Pinot Meunier producing a fresh, fruity, elegant champagne.
