More information Glenmorangie 10 Year Reserve (Highland) Whisky
Glenmorangie's history is lost to Celtic origins. The earliest documentary reference to distilling dates back to 1703. An entry in the "Tain and Balnagown Documents" which recounts the death of George Ross de Morangie, son of Thomas de Abbot, states that his possessions included "a still of aquae-vitae, with its stand". This implies that whisky had been distilled for a long time.
Glenmorangie is one of the most northerly distilleries in Scotland and one of the smallest. Its annual production is not very large and stocks of reserve whisky are extremely limited. In addition, from time to time, the Distillery Manager removes selected casks for extra ageing. All barrels are made from white oak from the Ozark Mountains in Missouri. These selected casks are chosen for their undefined qualities which, as they know, will produce a fine aged Glenmorangie.

The warehouses are situated next to the distillery, in the Dornoch Firth. They are built in the old style, low, stone, earthen floor and permanently refreshed by the sea air. Once selected, the casks remain there, undisturbed until they reach maturity: the mild local climate ensures the optimum environment for full maturity.

The result of this care and patience is a whisky of rare distinction. The subtle and refined characteristics of Glenmorangie, the floral bouquet - the delicate balance of flavours, are abundantly present - but developed and enriched - loaded with vanilla and almond notes, rounded off with deep sultana notes. The perfect after-dinner drink.
Only after a decade can Glenmorangie Reserva 10 years be bottled, the minimum time necessary to appreciate the characteristics of the whisky's production.
