Domecq 1820 is aged in 500 litre American oak casks (called botas) for two years, which have been soaked beforehand for 2 to 3 years in Pedro Ximénez Malaga dessert wine or (sun-dried) Muscatel. This procedure imbues the wood with the characteristics and flavours of the wine and in turn enhances the flavour, sweetness and complexity of the brandy.

More information Domecq 1820 Brandy

Domecq 1820 is a Solera Reserva brandy, which maintains all the heritage, richness and tradition inherent in the Domecq family name. The Domecq firm was responsible for the first brandy produced and sold in Spain. To produce its wines, the Domecq family used the best stills and the most advanced techniques of the time, imported from all over the world.

Today Domecq 1820 is made in Malaga, in southern Spain, using the solera system - a centuries-old method where aged brandy is infused with younger brandies, ensuring consistent quality. It is aged in oak barrels for two years.

Domecq is made using the 'Criaderas and Soleras (steps and ladder) system, an ancient handcrafting practice traditionally the preserve of Spanish producers of sherry and brandy. It results in unique sensory qualities that are the trademark of the area of origin. Combining technological innovation with traditional production processes results in a brandy of extraordinary quality, with balanced flavour and bouquet.

Domecq is aged in 500 litre American oak casks (called botas) for two years, which have been soaked beforehand for 2 to 3 years in Pedro Ximénez Malaga dessert wine or (sun-dried) Muscatel. This procedure imbues the wood with the characteristics and flavours of the wine and in turn enhances the flavour, sweetness and complexity of the brandy.
